We took some time at the end of my maternity leave to take Adrian to Surfside Beach, SC.
It was a lot of firsts. His first long road trip, his first sleep away from home, his first visit to the beach, and his first restaurant. It was a learning experience and a blast.
Surfside Beach Vacation 2021
Six and a half hours on the road turned into eight and a half with our little guy nursing. And it was our first time packing all the baby things. We reached our destination late on Thursday night: The Presidential Villas at Grand Palms Resort .
Day One
Our first morning Adrian started out in a great mood and Daddy was being silly making him laugh.
We headed to the beach and, as it turned out, Adrian was not a fan. He cried for the first 15 minutes and then once he finally calmed down it started raining. Luckily we were able to catch a few shots before we had to leave.
For dinner we went to California Ultimate Pizza, which was right up the street and had good reviews. We were going to the pier but unfortunately the park was about to close so we just took a little drive up and down the strip before going back to the resort for an early night.
Day Two
The next morning we headed back to the beach, armed with the knowledge of what we actually needed to bring with us onto the sand. We were able to really enjoy our hour before it rained on us again.
That afternoon we went to Broadway on the Beach for lunch and some shopping. We also learned a lot about how different vacation is with an infant. Everything we did was scheduled around his eating and sleeping schedules. We also visited Adrian’s first sushi bar. He didn’t eat any but he did appreciate the atmosphere.
I would call our first vacation a real success. We learned a lot about traveling with a baby but Adrian made it easy; or as easy as can be expected. We look forward to our next vacation with our little guy to Orlando, FL.
